NSW: Skimming device found in Sydney ATM

Bank customers are being told to closely check their bank statements after police uncovered
an ATM scam in Sydney.

A card skimming device and camera were hidden in a fake front panel on the machine
at a St George Bank in Sydney's CBD.

An employee of the bank noticed the device this morning and police believe it was installed
less than a day earlier during business hours.

Located on the corner of Pitt and Market Streets .. the ATM is only metres from where
crowds gathered yesterday to watch Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD enter the Cole inquiry.

Chief Inspector CHRIS KEEN says anyone who saw someone who appeared to be working on
the machine should contact police.
