Fed: Simple maths it could have saved Challenger, says expert

A world mathematical experts says a simple maths task could have prevented the 1986
Challenger space shuttle disaster.

Dutch academic Dr JAN DE LANGE (pron: YARN DE LONGA) says NASA scientists had the relevant
information on why the launch, which resulted in a catastrophic explosion killing all
seven crew aboard, should not have gone ahead.

Dr DE LANGE is a keynote speaker at the Australian Association of Maths Teachers 2001
conference in Canberra.
